Jon Bernthal
Episode 11: American Vandal, The Punisher and more!
We really liked talking about entertainment news and scandals, so we decided to do it again! We watched several good movies and television shows over the past week. Farzan finished the Netflix original television series American Vandal. Farzan also watched First They Killed My Father which is directed by Angelina Jolie. The film is based on the story of Cambodian author and human rights activist Loung Ung.
Devon decided to watch some horror movies. On Netflix you can find the horror-thriller film titled “Baskin” (2016). Another one to look for on Netflix is “A Dark Song” (2016).
Let’s listen to this episode before we go further:
Have you seen The Punisher yet? Critics Are Split on whether this is the best or the worst marvel Netflix series. UPROXX called the series “The Wrong Show At The Wrong Time”. They went on to say “The series will
debut this Friday November 17th less than two weeks after another mass shooting, this time at a Texas church where the gunman reportedly wore black tactical gear, like the Punisher, and a mask with a skull on it, like the emblem on the Punisher’s torso. Given the similarities — including the fact that the Punisher, aka Frank Castle, is an unstable man with an arsenal of automatic weapons he uses to vent his rage on the people he blames for his unhappiness”.
Discussing the Punisher we decided the most exciting part about the series is that it is being reported as possibly one of the best Marvel adaptations to release. As Washington Post put it “What makes Netflix’s “The Punisher” series stand out is that lead actor and Washington native Jon Bernthal doesn’t need to wear a white skull or even have a gun in his hand for you to know that he is the Punisher.“
